The Artery “10 x 10” Show & Summer Clay Camp Kids’ Kids

The Artery “10 x 10” Show – April 5-17, 2012 “10 x 10” refers to the fact that all of the artists in this show had to submit a work that fits into a 10-inch square space.  My stoneware tea set just fits (barely).  This show, at the Artery, 207 G Street in downtown Davis, runs through April 17.  If you are in downtown Davis, stop on by!  Artists’ reception (with goodies) is Friday, April 13, 7-9 p.m., coinciding with the 2nd Friday ArtAbout. The teapot and tea cups are made of a dark red stoneware clay called “Death Valley” and glazed in a buttermilk glaze.  In the oxygen-reduced atmosphere in the high-fired gas kiln, the glaze reacted with the iron in the clay, which is why you see the lovely speckled finish on the glaze.

Summer Clay Camp Kids’ classes start June 11!  I will have sessions for all ages again this summer, plus an evening class for grownups.  Email me at jillvz@sbcglobal.net if you’re interested.
